Fall Classic…

T’was the culmination of more than four months’ training.  My second Corporate Challenge 5K in June led to training for a 10K, which stretched out to 10 miles.  I spent the last four weeks intensifying my running regimen to make the jump, even running on Sundays before dawn.  Weather at the Fall Classic was perfect.  My torrid pace saw my second lap inexplicably outpacing my first, and finishing twenty minutes sooner than anticipated (so quick in fact that Lucy missed me at the finish line).  My official time was 1:25:44; good for 14th in my category (Men 20-29), and 102nd overall.  I ran my 5K pace for 16K.  T’was the race of my life…
